Competitive High School Team

 Concentration, teamwork, perseverance and dedication

The basics

WWRA operates a program for high school athletes that runs during all four seasons. The program encourages those interested in rowing and those interested in coxing (steering and directing operations). Fall season races tend to be about 5km. Winter season is an indoor program of conditioning. Spring season races are sprints of about 2km.

The program is open to public school students in Wayland and Weston. Rowing races occur at regattas. There are usually 4 regattas in the fall and 4 in the spring. If your child performs well, his or her boat may progress and go to additional regattas.

Spring 2026

Our Spring season begin on March 16 at the boathouse (adjacent to Wayland Town Beach)! The Novice and Varsity teams are excited to welcome you!

Novice rowers are in grades 9+ and may or may not have previous rowing experience, but are new to racing.

Varsity members are those who began their Novice season in or before Spring 2025. All athletes must be Wayland/Weston public school students.

Winter training is in full swing! Spots are full for the Full Winter training program, but we will have some spots for the Bookend program, which will open in January and start on Feb 23. At least 1 season of prior rowing experience is expected.
