About the Wayland-Weston Crew and the Alumni Association

Since the fall of 2000, student-athletes from Wayland High School and Weston High School have launched from the Town Beach on Lake Cochituate. Through the support of a dedicated group of founders and a generous community, the team grew quickly.

In the Spring of 2003, the team won it's first medal for a Varsity 8+ at the Massachusetts State Championships. In the Fall of 2003, the team competed in the Head of the Charles for the first time. Since then, the team has continued to grow in strength and success. The combined rosters for the girls' and boys' team include over 100 athletes.

In the Spring of 2005, the team competed at the Northeast Junior Regional Championships, which was the first National Championship qualifier regatta the team had ever raced. The team advanced the boys' varsity and novice eights to the grand finals and the girls' novice eight walked away with the silver medal.

The next year, the team won the boys', girls' and overall team points trophies at States, seven boats medaled at the Northeast/Mid-Atlantic District Championships (formerly NE Regionals), three boats qualified for the National Championships in Cincinatti, Ohio. All three boats placed in the top 10 and the team walked away with it's first medal from nationals.

Today, the oarsmen and women, coxswains and coaches continue to put in countless hours of practice to continue to build for the future.

The Wayland-Weston Crew Alumni Association was first conceived of in the spring of 2006, when the construction of the boathouse was being completed. The idea was to give past rowers and their parents a way to stay connected and continue to support the Wayland-Weston Crew.
